EVOcomputers proudly supported BattleLab Robotics 2014!

EVOcomputers was with the Cluj students from UTCN, participating in a competitive technical event in its 4th edition: BattleLab Robotics .

The BattleLab Robotics phenomenon began in 2011, when BEST Cluj-Napoca and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Technical University joined forces for a unique event in the city – a robotic sumo competition.

The contest is addressed to all students from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and all students from universities with a technical profile in Romania, regardless of their specialization or year of study.

The theme of the event is the implementation of autonomous sumo robots, capable of identifying and eliminating the opposing robot from the playing surface in "1 to 1" competitions. The BattleLab Robotics competition represents an opportunity for students to capitalize on their practical skills based on the theoretical concepts assimilated during the years of study.

From year to year, the robots have become more and more powerful and the competition more and more exciting! The event took place on April 12, 2014 and took place in the premises of the Technical University on Bariţiu Street no. 26 in the P03 amphitheater.

"In this edition, 21 teams of students from technical universities in Romania participated, who worked for months to create the robot, this being a complex project to which knowledge of electrical, mechanical, automatic and computer engineering was applied The teams were made up of a maximum of four students, the competition complying with the international rules of robotic sumo in terms of the dimensions of the playing surface and the rules of deployment and commitment", said the representatives of the event.

Who won?

On 1st place ranked the BULLET robot, team members have proudly stated that: “We started off pretty bad. Until yesterday our robot didn't work, but today we gave the shot! A small change to the robot changed our entire performance and we won"!

On second place ranked the WOLF robot , the team members who came all the way from Bucharest declaring: "We came to test the robot. We came and participated at Septimiu's invitation and we felt very good. We managed to get to know our robot better".

The newcomers to the competition, the proud owners of the robot called RUST, ended up ranking on 3rd place . Full of enthusiasm, they declared: "We started from the idea of ​​making a robot that starts and we managed to get the 3rd place! We are very happy"

EVOcomputers awarded one of the winning teams at the end of the event. "We are glad to see that young people have such competitive and ambitious extra-curricular concerns!
